Capstone recently announced a follow-on order for four C65 microturbines from a Houston-based data center, bringing the number of Capstone turbines at the site to 13. The data center serves 50 000 employees in offices worldwide and utilzes the natural gas C65 microturbines for critical power. Five Star Electric, Capstone’s distributor in Texas, secured the order.
Capstone Turbine Corporation also recently announced that it has received an order for its C1000 power system to be installed at a larger consumer goods manufacturer in Chicago, Illinois, U.S.A. NewLoop Energy secured the order, which is the first to be sold in the Midwestern United States.
The C1000 will be installed in the manufacturer’s facility in a combined heat and power application. The turbine will provide electricity to supplement power from the local utility. In addition, waste heat will be captured to preheat water for steam used in the manufacturing process.
