MAN Diesel was awarded a contract for the 48 MW Wilson City thermo project by Bahamas Electricity Corporation (BEC). Construction on the power plant has already started and will include four 12 MW heavy fuel oil (HFO) MAN Diesel engines.

The island is experiencing strong economic growth due to various development projects and as a result, the proposed power plant is required in order to fulfill energy demand.

State-owned BEC is the country’s primary electricity provider with an installed capacity of 438 MW and roughly 96 000 customers. The utility’s project portfolio also includes phase four of the New Providence power expansion program than envisions adding an 80 MW slow speed diesel plant.
