Vogt Power to Supply HRSGs for Mississippi Power Plant
Vogt Power International Inc., located in Louisville, KY, a subsidiary of Babcock Power Inc., based in Danvers, MA, has been selected to supply South Mississippi Electric Power Association (SMEPA), two Heat Recovery Steam Generators (HRSGs) for the Moselle Repower Project located in Jones County Mississippi.
Vogt Power will design, manufacture and deliver two natural gas fired, two pressure level, natural circulation HRSGs with an SCR (selective catalytic reduction) system to remove Nitrogen Oxide (NOx) from the gas turbine exhaust stream. Vogt’s HRSGs will be installed behind General Electric’s 7EA gas turbines. The combined cycle unit is expected to add an additional 134 MW of generation capacity to the Moselle Generating Station and is scheduled for completion in 2012.
“We are pleased that our equipment was selected and will assist SMEPA to improve their efficiency, flexibility and overall system performance,” said Ron Pancari, Chief Operating Officer of Vogt Power International. South Mississippi Electric, a generation and transmission cooperative headquartered in Hattiesburg, provides wholesale power to its eleven member owner electric power associations. The overall system delivers reliable, not for profit electric service to more than 400,000 homes and businesses in 56 of the state’s 82 counties.
