Wärtsilä will supply a 100 MW power plant to be installed in Lomé, Togo, that and is scheduled to be operational by the fourth quarter 2009. The plant will include six Wärtsilä 50DF engines designed for tri-fuel capability — natural gas, light fuel oil (LFO) or heavy fuel oil (HFO) — and will significantly diversify Togo’s power generation portfolio by supplementing the country’s hydroelectric power during the dry season. The electricity investment is the largest in Togo’s history and will double the country’s generating capacity. The turnkey contract was awarded by Contour Global Togo SA.
