Monitoring degradation

To help address the issue of wasted energy caused by pump efficiency/performance degradation, SPP has introduced bespoke condition monitoring packages designed to monitor a pumping installation.

The monitor tracks pump efficiency degradation, highlighting when pump overhaul is necessary to ensure the most economic operation of the installed equipment. The system assesses the complete system and can recommend pump operating regimes that could conserve energy.

Pump series gets redesign

Richter Chemie-Technik GmbH has introduced the new MNK, a single-stage, sealless, chemical centrifugal pump of heavy-duty horizontal design.

Richter first launched this plastic-lined pump series 20 years ago, however, the pump has been redesigned to be even more maintenance-friendly. The product is qualified for a variety of processes, such as chlor-alkali electrolysis, sulphuric acid, MDI and TDI, recycling and in plastic and special fibre production.

Used for media where stainless steel, special cast iron and conventional plastics are not sufficiently resistant to corrosion, Richter says the MNK is an alternative to pumps made of expensive, exotic metals such as Hastelloy, Monel, nickel, tantalum.

ABB launches next generation of flowmeters

A new generation of flowmeters for water and wastewater treatment applications has been launched by ABB. According to the company, the WaterMaster flowmeter range brings a host of advanced features and functionality, including superior measurement capabilities, designed to operate more efficiently, reduce costs and increase profitability.

One of these features is the WaterMaster's octagonal sensor design. The design brings the sensor closer to the ideal square sensor geometry without the inherent problems of stresses caused at the four corners.

By improving the flow profile, the octagonal design minimises the upstream and downstream pipe lengths required from the point of installation, greatly reducing the cost of fitting the meters into new or existing pipelines.
