Electirc pump series for wastewater treatment

Caprari has introduced the K-Kompact series, a new range of electric pumps designed to treat civil and industrial wastewater and for installation in a dry chamber with a surface motor.

The pumps are designed for use where space is at a premium. Available in over 80 different models, both horizontal and vertical versions take up the least possible ground area. The flow rates extend to 300 litres/sec and the head up to 70 m. The power rating is up to 37 kW with a standard IP55 electric motor and standardised flanging is also supplied with the pump.

Sulzer awarded power project in South Africa

Sulzer Pumps has received a major order from Alstom Power for the new Medupi coal fired power station in Johannesburg. The station is being built for national generator, Eskom.

According to Sulzer, the order includes a total of 48 pumps for boiler feed, booster, and condensate extraction duties. In addition to the manufacturing of the pumps, Sulzer will provide full project management of the pump modules, including the related equipment such as motors and couplings. The power station, which Sulzer reports will be the country's first green field project for 20 years, will have an ultimate generating capacity of four 790 megawatt.

Larox expands pump family

Larox has broadened its LPP pump family to include the LPP-M, a pump designed for accurate metering. As LPP-M pumps are manufactured using durable elastomers they are designed for pumping and metering a wide range of media in the chemical, construction, mineral processes, food and beverage industries.

Matti Riihimäki, vice president of pump products at Larox Flowsys said that as the LPP-M pumps are equipped with the standard technical features of a typical peristaltic pump such as dry run capability and self priming, they provide exact flow per cycle.

Industrial valve market to reach US$56 billion

The world market for industrial valves will reach approximately US$56 billion by 2012 according to Industrial Valves: World Market, an online report by the McIlvaine Company. Compared to 2007 estimates of US$45 billion, this figure represents worldwide growth just short of 25% over the next five years.

Asia has been showing extremely high growth rates for industrial valve revenues and the report suggests that by 2012 the industrial valve market in Asia will grow by 32%, reaching US$21.6 billion compared to US$16.3 million in 2007. By contrast, 15% growth over the same time period has been forecast for the Americas. McIlvaine predicts that automatic regulation and control valves will continue to comprise the largest market share.

Progressing cavity pump withstands extreme temperatures

PCM has launched the VulcainT, for the thermal recovery of heavy oil. The all-metal progressing cavity pump, PCM VulcainT, has been designed to withstand the extreme downhole temperatures of thermal oil recovery, and is capable of pumping extremely hot(350°C/660°F) and extremely viscous fluids.

Truck pumps get a redesign

Blackmer has introduced the TXD1200 Series high-speed truck pumps for the light petroleum products market. The TXD1200 Series has been developed for pumping light petroleum products such as diesel, heating oil, gasoline, kerosene, avgas, biodiesel and ethanol.

Although most parts and options remain common to the current TXD pumps, basic changes to the TXD1200 Series include a new cylinder body, with indicator holes drilled near the feet on the discharge side of the pump for external identification. In addition, all the models are designed with a new rotor and shaft, along with new lock-nuts and nylon tipped set screws that reduce maintenance requirements.

Pump series gets redesign

Richter Chemie-Technik GmbH has introduced the new MNK, a single-stage, sealless, chemical centrifugal pump of heavy-duty horizontal design.

Richter first launched this plastic-lined pump series 20 years ago, however, the pump has been redesigned to be even more maintenance-friendly. The product is qualified for a variety of processes, such as chlor-alkali electrolysis, sulphuric acid, MDI and TDI, recycling and in plastic and special fibre production.

Used for media where stainless steel, special cast iron and conventional plastics are not sufficiently resistant to corrosion, Richter says the MNK is an alternative to pumps made of expensive, exotic metals such as Hastelloy, Monel, nickel, tantalum.
