Basin Water offers membrane systems to drinking water facilities
Submitted by powerservices on Wed, 07/30/2008 - 10:31.Basin Water Inc has announced that it will begin to offer NSF 61 certified photocatalytic membrane systems to drinking water providers in the USA through its agreement with Purifics ES Inc.
Known as Photo-CatT, the technology combines chemical-free advanced oxidation process technologies with long-life UV and maintenance-free ceramic membranes in a single unit operation. Photo-CatT may be used alone or in combination with other treatment systems, and can effectively treat a range of organic contaminants in groundwater, including 1,4-dioxane, methyl tertiary butyl ether and pharmaceuticals and personal care products. Basin Water Inc says it is the only system of its kind with NSF 61 certification.

Siemens to treat Flue Gas Desulfurization scrubber wastewater
Submitted by powerservices on Tue, 07/29/2008 - 16:56.Reliant Energy has selected Siemens Water Technologies to provide a system to treat wastewater from a Flue Gas Desulfurization scrubber being constructed at the Keystone Generating Station in Pennsylvania, USA.
The wastewater system will include storage tanks, reaction tanks, chemical feed systems, a clarifier, gravity sand filters, and belt filter presses. The wastewater treatment system will de-saturate the wastewater and remove suspended solids and heavy metals from the scrubber waste stream so the water can be safely discharged.
The project is scheduled to begin operation in 2009.

Silicon carbide filter elements
Submitted by powerservices on Tue, 07/29/2008 - 13:08.Crystar® has developed the silicon carbide FT 500 nm filters (modules with 3 to 7 elements, 1.06 to 2.47 m²), designed for filtration of SiC suspensions to help increase solids content.
The Crystar® FT filters are made of 100% self-bonded, recrystallised silicon carbide with multi-layer SiC membranes. The filter carrier is characterised by high porosity and an open three-dimensional pore structure. Crystar® says modules with 4CFT and 5CFT filters showed time and energy savings of 36%.

Air filter for maximum engine protection
Submitted by powerservices on Sat, 07/26/2008 - 17:47.Donaldson Company has developed the Pulse Jet Air Cleaning (PJACT) UltraT air cleaner. The company says the self-cleaning air filter is designed for maximum engine protection, minimised filter element servicing, improved fuel economy and vehicle engine power. The filter is designed for use in military vehicles and applications operating in demanding environmental conditions.
The PJAC cleans filter elements with short duration pulses of compressed air. According to Donaldson, this two-stage air filtration technology ensures engine protection and a longer life cycle due to minimised filtration servicing with no scavenge required.

H2O Innovation secures three new contracts in USA and Canada
Submitted by powerservices on Wed, 06/11/2008 - 10:00.H2O Innovation (2000) Inc has announced the signing of three new contracts in California, USA and Alberta and northern Quebec, Canada. The contracts total CAN$2,675,000, bringing the firm's backlog to CAN$17 million.
The first contract was awarded to H2O's American subsidiary, Membrane Systems Inc. The low pressure membrane filtration system to be installed in the city of Oxnard, northwest of Los Angeles, California, will recycle 6 million gallons of wastewater per day using extremely effective membrane technologies.
H2O's Alberta division, Sigma Environmental, has been awarded a contract for the design and manufacture of a water purification system to be installed in an oil industry construction camp near Calgary, Alberta.
