Oil Eater now offers a 170 L water-based parts washer, designed to reduce the need and cost of disposal service. The unit can be heated up to 43°C via a 1000 W heater. The unit includes separate heater and pump switches with lighted on and off indicators, a filter system, flexible spigot and flow-through brush and stainless-steel work shelf. It measures 61 cm wide by 81 cm long by 22 cm deep and is constructed with an HDPE resin tank. Three 19 L pails of eco-friendly

ZF Marine has introduced the HSMT 410/730 special reduction gear designed for use with Vericor Power System’s TF40 and TF50 marine gas turbines in high-speed yachts. The unit is available with reduction ratios ranging from 9.5 to 20:1.

Wärtsilä’s First Angolan Power Plant Order

Wärtsilä Corp. was awarded a contract by ETA Star International LLC of Dubai, United Arab Emirates, to supply a 36 MW power plant for a new cement works in Angola. This is Wärtsilä’s first power plant order from Angola and will include four Wärtsilä 20V32 diesel generating sets running on heavy fueloil. Wärtsilä is providing all engineering of the plant and is delivering all the equipment for the power plant, including the building above ground level. The plant is due to be handed over in June 2010.

Wärtsilä Power Plant for Togo

Wärtsilä will supply a 100 MW power plant to be installed in Lomé, Togo, that and is scheduled to be operational by the fourth quarter 2009. The plant will include six Wärtsilä 50DF engines designed for tri-fuel capability — natural gas, light fuel oil (LFO) or heavy fuel oil (HFO) — and will significantly diversify Togo’s power generation portfolio by supplementing the country’s hydroelectric power during the dry season. The electricity investment is the largest in Togo’s history and will double the country’s generating capacity. The turnkey contract was awarded by Contour Global Togo SA.

Three Repair Contracts for Wood

The Gas Turbine Services division of John Wood Group won three gas turbine component repair contracts worth a total of approximately US$3 million, by Edison S.p.A., of Italy. The first contract involves the refurbishment of hot gas path components from GE Frame 9E gas turbines operated at six power stations throughout Italy.

The work will be carried out at GTS’ turbine component repair facility in Rayong, Thailand. GTS has also won two contracts with Edison for the repair of fuel nozzles from a Frame 9 DLN gas turbine at the Sarmato power station, and for the repair of GE LM2500 and LM6000 gas turbine accessories and fuel nozzles from various sites in Italy. GTS will perform the repair work for these two contracts at its facilities in berdeen, Scotland, and Dublin, Ireland.

Fast Patrol Boats Bound for Arabian Sea

On sea trials, the USMI 27.4 m patrol boat exceeded its contracted speed of 45 knots by a wide margin. The vessel is powered by a pair of MTU 12V4000-M90 marine diesel engines each rated 1771 kW at 2100 r/min. These engines drive a pair of Rolls-Royce/KaMeWa 56S11 waterjets.

New from GE Transportation is its L250 Series of six- and eight-cylinder inline marine diesel engines. The 250 mm bore engines offer output ranges from 1500 to 2332 kW, and they were designed with current and future emissions standards in mind.

MTU and Hug Announce Joint Venture

The Tognum Group, parent company of MTU Friedrichshafen, and the Swiss company Hug Engineering AG have announced a joint venture for cooperation in the field of exhaust aftertreatment systems. The new company will be established on October 1, with its headquarters in Switzerland. Friedrich Köskemeier from MTU Friedrichshafen will be the CEO. The joint venture company will invest up to US$9 million over the next few years and despite this exclusive strategic arrangement, both companies are free to continue cooperation with other partners.

Sulzer appoints new division president

Sulzer has appointed César Montenegro, currently Head of Sulzer pumps North America, as the new division president of Sulzer Metco and a member of the executive committee of Sulzer.

Montenegro began his career at Sulzer in 1978, and has held various general management positions in Switzerland and the USA and acted as managing director for Sulzer in Venezuela and then in Mexico. Met-Pro to supply pumps to wastewater treatment facilities

Met-Pro Corp's Duall business unit has received two orders to supply odour control systems to two municipal wastewater treatment facilities in the Northeast United States.

Together these orders are worth approximately US$550 000. Both orders are scheduled for delivery in late 2008/early 2009.
