New Production Facilities of CATERPILLAR

The first Caterpillar C7 ACERT marine engine left Cat’s new Marine Center of Excellence (MCOE) in Greenville, South Carolina, U.S.A. After passing through assembly, final painting and dyno testing, the engine was shipped to caterpillar dealer NC Machinery Co. for a pleasure craft application. The center will eventually house the design, development, manufacture and test facilities for marine products ranging from the C7 to the C32 — the latest of Caterpillar’s propulsion engines. Once the MCOE achieves full operation in 2008, production capacity will be about 30 marine engines a day.
