Tognum recently received an order for 20 gensets destined for Yemen

Tognum recently received an order for 20 gensets destined for Yemen. The MTU Onsite Energy diesel gensets will be in continuous operation for the energy provider Public Electricity Corporation (PEC) and supply additional electricity for the local power grid around the harbor town Hodeidah in the western part of Yemen.

The gensets, powered by MTU 16V 4000 G63 diesel engines are housed in special containers, making them ideal for mobile use. In addition to the gensets, the order includes cooling and fuel systems and related switchgear. Tognum will provide support for installation and connection of the containerized gensets, planned for early 2010.

The demand for electricity in Yemen has increased considerably in the past few years and is likely to rise further in the future. This has caused a supply gas which the gensets operated by Al-Ahram Trading Co., Ltd are meant to fill. They produce 30 MW of electric power in total, enough energy to power an estimated 15 000 homes in the United States.
