KSB Group is to supply 120 Etaseco canned motor pumps for Nuovo Trasporto Viaggiatori’s (NTV) 25 new French-built high-speed trains that are due for delivery in 2011.
Because of the high power of the electric drives, the traction systems’ power converters are liquid-cooled, not air-cooled. The KSB leak-free pumps keep a glycol-water mixture circulating in the cooling systems. The German pump manufacturer says it won the contract because the company has already supplied almost 20 000 pump sets of this type for use in high-speed trains, high-performance locomotives and suburban trains worldwide.
