Hyflux Ltd will use Pump Engineering’s energy recovery technology in the sea water reverse osmosis plant in Magtaa, on the northwest coast of Algeria.

Pump Engineering will begin delivering 25 HTCAT-7200 TurboChargers to the Magtaa sea water reverse osmosis plant in 2010. When the sea water reverse osmosis plant begins operating in 2011, it will produce 500,000 m3/day of potable water per day, making it the largest sea water reverse osmosis plant in the world.

Larry Pelegrin, vice president of sales & marketing for Pump Engineering said: “The detailed engineering analysis and life cycle cost calculations of the energy recovery alternatives left no stone unturned. Magtaa will be a bench mark for future energy recovery device selections.”
