Bahrain investment firms Inovest BSC and Tharawat Investment House are setting up a water filter manufacturing company.
Bahrain Water Technology Co (BWTC) will produce water filter cartridges for household, industrial and commercial applications, as well as for desalination plants in the MENA (Middle East North Africa) region. The manufacturing facility will have four production lines and will deploy melt blown technology provided by BWTC’s US technology partners.
The filter manufacturing facility is in response to growing water scarcity issues in the GCC (Gulf Cooperation Council – Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates) and MENA (Middle East North Africa) regions.
BWTC has an off-take agreement with buyers which will secure the sale of 50% of the plant’s filter production capacity, as well as a long-term purchase agreement which enables the acquisition of raw material at favourable prices, and an agreement with international technical partners. “With recognized opportunities for regional sales due to increasing demand at a consumer, agricultural, and industrial levels we look forward to seeing BWTC becomes a regional success story,” said Arif Mohammed Al Alawi, Tharawat CEO. “The project is also socially responsible as it is a response to a dire regional need (for water) and simultaneously meets socio-economic requirements for employment and industrial development,” added Al Alawi.
